Winter
Winter in the Midwest is a season most of the country never fully experiences, and it happens to be perfectly suited to black and white. Snow and frost strip nature's components down to their essential shapes, lines, and contrasts, the kind of stark simplicity that black and white was made for.
Where black and white can feel austere or unattainable, this collection finds the opposite: clarity. With detail pared away, what's left is pure shape and form, trees rendered black against fields of white, landscapes that read as clean, simple, and at times almost surreal. It's nature paused mid-breath, hibernating, and made newly legible in the process.
Winter is a study in restraint, proof that taking things away can make an image more beautiful.
